Where the First Red-Team House Actually Is (and Why It Matters)

Full Transcript:

(00:00:00):

Hey future Red Teamers.

(00:00:02):

So I wanted to answer the question of where.

(00:00:06):

And behind me you will see,

(00:00:08):

I don’t know if I got all 30,

(00:00:10):

but there’s like 30 murals right here in West Asheville,

(00:00:15):

North Carolina.

(00:00:17):

And I did a walking tour one day and took all these photos.

(00:00:22):

So we are located three miles from downtown Asheville.

(00:00:26):

It is walkable.

(00:00:28):

It’s very bikeable.

(00:00:30):

And there’s obviously Ubers and all that.

(00:00:32):

So if you don’t have a car or don’t wanna bring a car, you’ll be fine.

(00:00:37):

There’s a bus stop nearby, you know, no problem.

(00:00:40):

But West Asheville is really, really special.

(00:00:45):

It is deeply rooted.

(00:00:48):

this neighborhood is from like 1898 my house the red team house is from 1925 so

(00:00:59):

lots of history and right here in super close walking distance there’s a little

(00:01:07):

neighborhood pub we’ve got some international cuisine like El Salvador and

(00:01:16):

I think Cambodia.

(00:01:17):

You know, we’ve got a couple Sri Lanka.

(00:01:19):

We’ve got some cool local food right here that’s very walkable.

(00:01:25):

There’s a bowling alley across the street.

(00:01:27):

And then in West Asheville proper,

(00:01:30):

where these photos were taken,

(00:01:35):

you’ll find breweries and some music venues.

(00:01:38):

And actually, where I bought this killer wampus bear hat, Instant Karma.

(00:01:45):

So, you know, very neighborhood, very local.

(00:01:51):

Lots of people have, you know, decent sized yards and the houses aren’t on top of each other.

(00:01:58):

So this is definitely a sought after neighborhood and it’s actually called Malvern Hills.

(00:02:05):

So there is a huge pool.

(00:02:09):

public pool and park.

(00:02:12):

Uh, the park’s not huge, but the pool is tennis courts, pickleball.

(00:02:16):

We’re definitely going to go play pickleball and there’s regular pickleball,

(00:02:19):

pickleball,

(00:02:20):

um,

(00:02:21):

games,

(00:02:22):

matches.

(00:02:23):

So yeah, this is Asheville’s gorgeous.

(00:02:26):

If you don’t know much about it, um, we are in bear country and got big Teddy back here.

(00:02:30):

And then of course the wampus bear mode when I’m in like

(00:02:35):

AI mode, hacker mode, you know, building mode.

(00:02:39):

I pop this on a lot and

(00:02:43):

It is gorgeous here,

(00:02:45):

the Appalachian Mountains,

(00:02:46):

the Blue Ridge Parkway,

(00:02:48):

you know,

(00:02:49):

400 plus miles of slow,

(00:02:51):

gorgeous curves through the forests and the mountains.

(00:02:55):

There’s over a million acres of protected forest around here.

(00:03:00):

So if you’ve not been here, it is a absolute treat and one of the

(00:03:07):

arguably one most beautiful you know areas nature-wise in the country of America

(00:03:14):

but you know we welcome everyone we welcome people from any country any situation

(00:03:21):

doesn’t matter you just have to be a woman you have to be over 18 and you have to

(00:03:25):

be ready for an awesome three-month

(00:03:29):

residency at the first red team house so that’s what we’re building the wear is

(00:03:35):

right here right here in asheville and you know ashevilleville is going through

(00:03:41):

some struggles right now with still recovering from hurricane helene 17 months ago

(00:03:47):

and

(00:03:48):

what the future is going to look like here.

(00:03:52):

Just down the street where my best friend lives about 20 minutes or so to the west,

(00:03:58):

Canton,

(00:03:59):

North Carolina just made the headlines because they said no to data centers.

(00:04:04):

So that was a huge win and we’ll see what Asheville does.

(00:04:10):

But

(00:04:12):

Yeah, lots, plenty to do and it is, there’s a young vibe here.

(00:04:18):

There’s a ton of digital nomads which I actually think will be great connection for

(00:04:23):

red teamers because some of these people work for really big companies

(00:04:29):

out of San Francisco,

(00:04:30):

New York,

(00:04:31):

even Dubai,

(00:04:32):

you know,

(00:04:32):

like there are some really connected people here and there is a ton of money here

(00:04:38):

that people try to hide and act like there isn’t,

(00:04:40):

but hello,

(00:04:41):

Biltmore Estate,

(00:04:43):

you know,

(00:04:44):

some of the richest families ever started here or vacationed here or came here and

(00:04:49):

took over.

(00:04:51):

I mean, so there’s a lot of interesting history and, you know, in some ways, I mean,

(00:04:58):

Asheville needs a lot more diversity.

(00:05:01):

And I think a program like this,

(00:05:03):

a three-month residency like this can help attract some really diverse people that

(00:05:09):

are excited for this crazy adventure and wild opportunity.

(00:05:14):

So come let me take care of you.

(00:05:18):

You get to pet on the house dogs,

(00:05:20):

Weah and Loqua,

(00:05:22):

and you’re going to get a home-cooked meal from Mama Bear,

(00:05:26):

and you’re going to be taken really good care of for three months in the Red Team

(00:05:31):

house,

(00:05:33):

and we can’t wait to meet you.
